-go over section 1 by taking notes/creating an information map based on references to God, nervousness of the men, greatness of Beowulf, and description of Grendel..
-discuss the whole section by hearing your notes/filling in blanks/answering questions, etc...
-share heroes you were to research for today
-for next time: Read section 2 "The Battle with Grendel's Mother" and take notes (to be collected) on the arrogance present in the character of Beowulf!

-take test
2. "The Lottery"
-intro notes...discussion of contrasting images, etc...
-begin story on own, and finish for next time
-take good notes on all the literary terms you find present in the story
-in a paragraph of writing, describe a tradition we DO in our culture that weird, bizarre, outdated, unfair, or apparently meaningless....write a paragraph 'reporting' on the research you do on this tradition, explaining what we do, why we might do it, etc....
