MY SUB PLANS FOR MONDAY FEBRUARY 8

SUB PLANS
JARED GOLDSMITH
MONDAY FEB 8

**Please Note: Attn and Homeroom roster are inside the manila folder**

BLOCK 1: College Prep English. Students should start by spending some time on vocabulary. I will attach the word list separately. The students should copy down the words, look them up (they can use their computer….they have built in dictionaries) and define each one. Furthermore, the students should put each word in a sentence for extra practice. The test, please tell them, will be on Friday. After vocabulary, please inform them that on WEDNESDAY, we will finish Act 2 of the film of “Hamlet,” and then we will have a TEST on Act 2. This test will be WRITTEN QUESTIONS based on quotes, etc we have talked about. They should use the remaining time to get their notes in order and make sure they are prepared for the test.

BLOCK 2: Free period. Have some coffee. Relax

BLOCK 3: Honors English. Please start by having the kids use their computers to do some research. I would like them to look up the Greek rhetorical term “ETHOS.” Please have them explore what this term means, and how it is used. They should all look for examples of ethos in advertising, politics, commercials, public speaking, persuasion, etc. They should spend some good quality time on this, and they should take notes so they can report back to me in class on Wednesday. For the second part of class, I would like them to read. They had no reading assignment due today, but I WOULD like them to start reading in class today. They should read chapters 27 THROUGH 34. Please tell them to read carefully, writing down any questions they have. On Wednesday, we will do a huge character list on the board to try to quell their confusion about characters in this story!

LUNCH

BLOCK 4: English 12. Mr Bourne, the special education teacher I have in my room, is going to run class for you today. He will administer the vocabulary test to the class. Then he will finish Act 2 of the “Hamlet” film with the kids. He may continue in the reading with Act 3. He will answer any questions you may have!

Thank you so much for subbing for me today. I hope you had an enjoyable day.

ALSO: Please tell ALL kids that this WHOLE lesson plan will be pasted onto my class blog, should they have any questions or confusion!
