Argue that the rhetorical device of ETHOS is not only alive and well in our culture, but also that it is integral for impacting and influencing a particular function of our society.

At this time, I am not giving you a due date, since I want to discuss this stuff with you when I return. -finished taking notes on history of Beowulf, ANglo Saxons, etc. ALWAYS bring your notes as you can use them on some quizzes!
-we began reading section 1 (battle with Grendel) together....you were to finish it on your own. You were to take notes on the evilness/description of Grendel AND the fight....how Beowulf is victorious....what he does...etc. Remember....take good notes and do well on tests!!!

3. Due to guidance being in and me being out, we will now have the vocab test next THURSDAY instead of Tuesday.....also, when I am back on Tuesday for class, we will review vocab, start Beowulf, etc....

For this assignment, examine a more 'recent' example of this philosophy being 'enacted' or practiced by someone (celebrity/politician/etc). Show, clearly, a more modern and 'pop cultureish' example of "the end justifies the means" apparent in our society today

1. Oh hey. You should definitely look at yesterday's class blog for CP English....that is your plan as well. Your project is due MONDAY, and your paper is due WEDNESDAY! Many of you have been coming to see me with GREAT questions, and that is good. Keep it up. Two things to remember: For your project, make sure you have true visual appeal with your presentation. And for your paper, make sure you adequately argue THE OPPOSITE of what MOST folks would say when describing the Count (most people would say he is AWESOME, by the way!). You are supposed to argue that he ISNT awesome at all....that, actually, he is a weakminded, bad, pathetic, mean, negative, selfish, greedy, etc. character. I know you love to argue...here is your chance to do it and get graded, even!

FOR HONORS: Do two things....read the section section of Beowulf (The Battle with Grendel's Mom) and research a "hero," telling me their secret weapon, their arch enemy, and their special skillz. Yes, with a Z.
ENGLISH 12: NO READING ASSIGNMENT. The paper that was due to me last time was to write a SOLID paragraph comparing Paul Delmonte to one of the "vegetables." DO IT.
