ENGLISH 12
1. VOcabulary
-we put words in sentences today for a participation grade....the test will be next WEDNESDAY so make sure to study!!
2. HEROES: There was a reading assignment to work on pages 20-37 and complete the information map topics I gave out....please know that on Monday, as I will not be here in class, the sub will have you work on completing this (as well as some more reading which you will do on your own in class)

1. Literary Terms Test
2. "The Lottery"
-introduce contrasting images and basics of the story
-begin reading the story....for next time, have the story read, have a set of notes hilighting the important literary devices present in the story, and research a funny/weird/offbeat tradition we have in our culture (Easter baskets, trick or treat, etc)

CP ENGLISH
1. Touch base about the importance of CHECKING THIS BLOG!
2 BEOWULF
-go over notes you took on section 1 of the reading....lecture and fill in blanks....
-independently, re-read section 2, taking notes on a) key differences in this battle vs the one with Grendel b) the setting where the mom lives c) how Beowulf is becoming a 'supernature' hero d) how he is showing ARROGANCE on a large scale
-write for me, to be handed in as a grade, a well written paragraph on how Beowulf shows signs of arrogance....
**With the sub on Monday, you will need to have your book, so please bring it!! YOu will be reading section 3 and doing a worksheet along with it....we will be working on our "genre" stuff on Wednesday!
