2. Vocab
-review words for test on TUESDAY by google-image searching them for connections....

HONORS ENGLISH
1. Hamlet
-collect and go over Dramatic Situation web sheets you created...
-explain how we will use these coming up in Acts 3 and 4 of the play
-fill in info on quotes you DIDNT map out....
-'read' Act 2 of the film....take good notes
-be prepared to start Act 3 on Tuesday with Ms. Conroy....

BLACK DAY

ENGLISH 12
1. View Stephen King film of "The Ledge" and "Quitter's Inc" stories..
2. For next time, write at least a page on how the stories share a certain type of conflict--do they have anything in common??

HONORS
1. Same as Orange Day class, but...........
-View most of Act 2 of the film (take good notes!)
-read the entire ending soliloquy of Act 2 (starts with "so now I am alone...oh what a rogue and peasant slave am I....)
-Write a 'reaction' to this soliloquy--you should try to explain what Hamlet is feeling in this speech...and you should focus in on a couple of specific, concrete lines from the soliloquy that are meaningful....see me if you have any questions before Monday!

COLLEGE PREP
1. Monte Cristo
-study and guide and discussion on chapters 18-21....fill in correct answers if you dont have them!
-Open book and note in class essay about explaining a prominent literary device in the novel thus far...I collected these at the end of class
-the reading is to complete chapters 22, 23, and 24 for Monday! Please do the reading!

1. New vocab words for test to be given next week by Ms Conroy....you should begin studying these now!
2. Monte Cristo
-finish power point discussion
-notes on alias/disguises....suicide undertones....Caderousse...etc etc
-no new reading assignment....but you should be SURE to be through chapter 21 for next class!!!!

HONORS
1. Hamlet
-review reading you did over break
-read/discuss most of soliloquy that ends Act 2
-discuss "players" and how 'psychological association' is a big part of what's to come...
-teach 'dramatic situation' webs
-for next time, your job is to create TWO dramatic situation webs: One of them should be from the list on the worksheet I passed out....the second one can be your free choice from the soliloquy that ends Act 2 (this means you should read the rest of it.....it is the final soliloquy/line of Act 2...it begins with Hamlet saying "So now I am alone...O what a rogue and peasant slave...."
*NOTE-if you cant find where some of the lines are on the sheet I gave you, come ask!!!

BLACK DAY

ENGLISH 12
1. Since we were missing most of the class, we used today as a catch up day (we only had three people!). After vacation, we will continue with vocab words review, The Ledge story, and our next short story....see you after vacation!!

HONORS
1. Please see the Orange Day plan from yesterday for clarification as to the reading assignment you need to do for after vacation. Have a great break!!!

COLLEGE PREP
1. Monte Cristo
-class reading check quiz for 19 through 21....MANY of you were absent and you will need to make this up  right after vacation if you have a yellow slip!
-finish power point presentation regarding "Religious Imagery" Dumas integrates into the novel....also discuss other key points from this section, like 'suicide' and 'suspension of belief' etc...
-discuss the reading we did for 19-21....make sure we understand the events at "Mardi Gras" with the Count, Albert, and Franz
-there is no reading to do over vacation....we will continue when you come back from break!

1. Same as black day class....this class is one day ahead of you....please see yesterday's blog post...also, you folks took the vocab test today!

HONORS
1. Hamlet
-Test on Act I of Hamlet....this was open note
-we read more of Act 2.2...went over worksheet with good lines to know....discussed how Hamlet "plays" with the characters of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern...
-your reading responsibility is to read from where we left off in class UNTIL "the Players enter." You should pay SPECIAL ATTENTION to Hamlet's rather long speech to R&G where we get a glimpse of his true thoughts and emotions....it is a speech that starts "I will tell you why...so shall my anticipation prevent your discovery...." Know this section pretty well!! Thanks and have a great break

-film clips of Monte Cristo movie....especially the prison scene and the 'breakout' scene...
-Powerpoint presentation on literary analysis/Christ Imagery (take notes!!)
-Reading is chapter 19 through 21 (I summarized chapter 18 for you....you can skip that chapter)
-always expect a reading quiz....YOU NEED TO BE READING
**REMEMBER THAT IF YOU ARE ABSENT, YOU HAVE AS MANY DAYS AS YOU ARE OUT IN ORDER TO MAKE UP YOUR WORK!! CHECK THIS BLOG. GET THE ASSIGNMENTS! NO EXCUSES!

ORANGE DAY

COLLEGE PREP
I was in for Ms Conroy while she is on break....today we reviewed our vocab words by putting them in original sentences....you should be ready for your vocab quiz which will be on THURSDAY. Then, we reviewed the study guide sheet you have for Monte Cristo through chapter 12....your assignment is to read through chapter 17 for next class!

HONORS
1. Hamlet
-read the rest of the film for Act 1...be sure to take notes on the film
-read Act 2.1 and some selections of Act 2.2
-watch as Joseph and Austin WOW us with their acting prowess!
-continue reading from where we left off in 2.2....read until Polonius comes back into the scene (if you read where Pol. says "well be with you gentlemen" then you have gone too far....)
-prepare for the Act 1 test on Thursday....this will be open note!
