BLACK DAY--DAY B4 VACATION!!!

ENGLISH 12
1. Finish A CHRISTMAS CAROL
2. After the film, create either one quality inferential OR transcendent question....and, in one paragraph, answer your own question. This was classwork.
3. We will begin our next book after vacation....

2. Be prepared to present ambition projects after vacation....the reading for vacation is to be through chapter 63...we are almost done, even!!

1. Same as Black Day.....you folks DO NOT have a reading assignment over vacation....but you need to be THROUGH 57 (that is what you needed to be thru for today)
2. Have a great vacation!
3. Be sure to finish your "ambition and power" project so you can present first thing after vacation!

1. Collect paragraph papers
2. Discuss voice and do voice activities (annoy, etc)
3. Due after vacation is a one page paragraph again, considering the following prompt:

What emotion is the most difficult for you to cope with? Anger, Fear, Jealousy, Love
Be sure to type at least a page....this will be graded on how well you describe your answer, and you need to have a solid topic sentence. ALSO, you need to use at least four transitional words!

-by the end of class, create 5 literal, 3 inferential, and 1 transcendent question....this was a participation grade....

HONORS

-character matching quiz
-pass byack pyapers and discuss importance of topic sentences AND softening statements/not using blanket statements and vague assumptions....
-no reading assignment tonight, even!
-the assignment WAS to read 52-57....and we can answer questions about this next time...
-go to library for "ambition" research project....

-transitional words notes
-technical writing stuff (direction giving, laundry directions, etc....)
-assignment given for Wednesday: Write a full paragraph (1 page typed double spaced) on 'something you know well.' You will be graded (in a NITPICKY WAY, I might add) on a SOLID TOPIC SENTENCE, COHERENCE, and AT LEAST FOUR underlined transitional phrases.
if you fail to do "address" these grading areas, be prepared to have it passed back for you to do again!

2. Read A&P story in class....we took notes on the stereotypes of the teenage boy, perceptions, and some parts of the story....we began the reading in class...you were to finish the story and create THREE literal questions, THREE inferential questions, and ONE solid transcendent question.....

-test on 42 thru 50
-go over test as way to discus reading....
-finish character list and discuss relationships with a super-duper chart!
-if you missed class, get the notes you missed today!
-read through chapter 57!!

1. We worked for about 15 minutes on literature questions--literal, inferential, transcendent....we will continue this on Friday, since we had an early release AND the assembly...

1. Seating chart, in order that everyone can be successful in English!
2. Reminder about 'writing on desk' problem....
3. Vocab
-test moved to THURSDAY....instead, we put words in sentences (15 of them) either about YOU or a TEACHER in the school!
4 Paragraph writing
-Coherence notes and activities....go over sheet and exercises
-do coherence exercise for next time (make sure you WRITE THE PARAGRAPH out)...in addition to this, write a paragraph--strong in coherence--that gives directions on how to do something you know well....
