ENGLISH 12
Today in class we worked on our cultural literacy phrases....make sure you have the definitions of these phrases....the quiz will tentatively be next TUESDAY.....with the sub, for the rest of the week, you will be working out of the ENGLISH WORKSHOP grammar books during class

HONORS ENGLISH
Today in class we did lots of review over prepositional phrases and appositive phrases, incorporating them into writing prompts, etc. Several review worksheets were done. Remember that, with the sub, you will be working on different grammatical "phrases," and then working them into writing prompts. Please follow the sub's instructions. Please remember to put the ENGLISH WORKSHOP books back when you are done.....

**I hope you all have a great vacation. I will be at school on the Monday after vacation....however, after that, I will be out for the rest of the week while I recover from shoulder surgery. Mr Record will be your sub while I am gone. I have gone over the plans with him, and I have told some of my classes what those plans will be. Please be sure to come prepared to class with your notebook and a pen. English classes will be doing a grammar/sentence structure writing unit during the week I am out. When I return, college prep classes will begin HAMLET, and honors classes will begin with BEOWULF. Have a safe and happy week off!!!

1. Same plan as black day from yesterday....only you folks took your root test today...so, if you were out today, please see me Monday after vacation so you can make it up before I leave for my surgery.

1. Quickly finish last 15 minutes or so of the film.....
2. Grammar
-notes on subject verb agreement, kernel sentences, prepositional phrases, etc
-worksheets and review on these grammatical topics....
3. After vacation, we will be writing about the film USING the grammatical sentence strategies we have been working on....

-in order to finish the film (on which you will be writing) we BEGAN notes and activities on subject/verb agreement....we did not get to the second part (prepositions) so we will do that after vacation...

1. Since 3/4th of you were missing today (giving tours to 8th graders) we did not move forward with the plan.....therefore, we will take our test FIRST THING on Friday....and we will also do some grammar and sentence structure review!

1. Film: V for Vendetta....we continued with the film....we have about ten minutes to finish next time....remember that next class we will be doing grammar review (semicolons, s/v agreement) and your writing response to the film will need to include some of this grammatical stuff
2. On Thursday we will review our Greek root words quickly, and then you will have a quiz on these!

1. "V for Vendetta" film: You do not need to take notes on it, but you should pay attention very well because you will be writing about it and the relation it has to "Monte Cristo"
