1. Same as black day classes (minus the writing stuff, because you havent done this yet!) But the reading assignment, etc is the same

HONORS
1. Hamlet
-Finish Act 3 of film (Oedipus complex....Hamlet and Gertrude....etc)
-Read/Begin Act 4 aloud as group....read sc 1,2.3,4
-Read scene 5 on own and be ready to talk about it next time
-writing assignment given on "secrets"....choose one of the three quotes on the board and explore its relationship to the story of Hamlet....you should be sure to have an identifiable thesis statement, and you should always quote from the text to support your claim! This is due next Thursday

ENGLISH 12

1. London stories
-"survival tests"
-Read "To Build a Fire"
-Finish the story (ten more pages) for next class
-we will have a test/writing assignment on the story, so be sure to read
2. The answer to the bonus is : DONUT. Be sure to remember this for Tuesday.

COLLEGE PREP
1. Writing
-assignment of paper: "Examine a situation where a seemingly good quality--like loyalty, kindness, generosity, etc--can 'backfire' and affect a character's life in a negative way"
-work on FCA, which is INTRODUCTIONS...we went over the importance of backstory, thesis statement, general information, and at least 5 sentences in a good solid introduction
-you must write a "mock" introduction for Thursday....this should include an attempt by you to create and craft good backstory in writing....you may write about whatever you want!
-this paper is due next WEDNESDAY
2. Monte Cristo
-begin notes
-hand out books
-read through chapter 6 for Thursday....
-we will finish the notes on Thursday!

1. Since you guys are now TWO classes ahead, we divided up our time between word/English games and review for the midyear exam (exam is last three vocab lists and short story short answers, identifications, etc)

HONORS ENGLISH
1. Pass back tests
2. Hamlet
-film and review of Act 2 and 3
-Midyear exam will be NO vocabulary; it WILL be an essay(s) test on what we have covered in Hamlet thus far. You CAN use all notes, books, etc.

ENGLISH 12
1. Vocab review and view Quitters Inc film
2. We went over what would be on the midyear exam...study your past TWO vocab lists and the material we have done for SHORT STORIES

-finish for HW...we will have a quiz on Thursday

-'dickde' and 'puppet' story to emphasize inferences
-a person you want to know more about/a person about whom you have made false inferences
-begin the story aloud
-finish the story and do 5 inferential and 2 transcendent questions

HONORS
1. Hamlet
-collect/go over Dramatic Situation webs for 2.2
-read/analyze the 'thirds' of the final soliloquy of Act 2...discuss soliloquy as groups
-briefly explain 'play within a play'
-test on Act 2 on Tuesday (study notes!!)
-read 3.1 up UNTIL the "to be or not to be" soliloquy

ENGLISH 12

ORANGE DAY

COLLEGE PREP
1. Question Generating practice in groups: create 5 literal, 3 inferential, 3 transcendent for a movie or show you enjoy....share with the class
2. Araby
-read aloud
-write about the conflict which exists in the story
-create 3 inferential questions based on the story
-for next class, write (one page or thereabouts) about a transcendent issue that exists in the story. Describe it adequately and with detail

HONORS
1. Hamlet
-offer of extra credit for memorizing soliloquy...see me for more info
-test on matching characters
-read in class from Act 2.2 (go over R&G, their role, what Polonius and Claudius want done with Hamlet, etc.
-read in 2.2 up UNTIL the Players enter again ("You are welcome masters, welcome all...."
-hand out double sided sheet with quotes to put in 'dramatic situation'
-after doing the reading, choose one of the quotes to sketch out a dramatic situation AND research the "O Jepthah" quote (find out what it means, what is the allusion, etc)

ENGLISH 12
1. Reminder of vocabulary test on Friday
2. Masculine Protest
-read story aloud
-make a continuum of events (top 5) that influence a change in the character of Denis
-use five of your vocab words to put in sentences; have your sentences be DIRECTLY about the story
